ONE YEAR FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL ACTING DIPLOMA:
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This one year full-time programme is designed for students with previous acting experience, and who have aspirations to working professionally within the industry. The course aims to provide invaluable production-based opportunities for students seeking either work or higher-education. In addition, an actor’s ability to self-manage their careers is a critical part of obtaining work, and so visiting professionals are on-hand to provide guidance and support throughout the process.
Classes are taught on a regular basis across the week, involving workshops, discussion groups and one-to-one sessions in the following areas:
Voice
Singing
Stage Combat
Devising Theatre
Audition Techniques
Musical Theatre
Shakespeare in performance
Rehearsal Techniques
Movement & Physical Theatre
Acting To Camera Techniques.
Actor management
Professional development
Students will rehearse and perform in at least 5 productions over the course of the year, and will explore different acting styles and techniques. Whether it’s a Shakespeare, classical or contemporary play, each project will enable students to maximize their individual talents and performance potential.
The use of space and venue also plays a part in an actor’s training. From studio to promenade, or sight-specific to proscenium arch, the art of adapting to the space is core to an actor’s understanding. Each production will be staged in a different format.
In the final term, students are guided and encouraged to apply for work within the professional performance industry. All productions throughout the year are open to the general public and often frequented by visiting practitioners. Each performance enables students to present their work within a professional setting, and the final term culminates in a Graduation Show which celebrates and showcases individual and collective talents.
