OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD WORKSHOP DAY
Birmingham Theatre School in Association with Joseph Chamberlain College will be hosting a Workshop and Performance Day of ‘Our Country’s Good’ by Timberlake Wertenbaker on Friday 19th June 2015, and you are formally invited to attend.
A morning of practical workshops followed by a performance has been specifically designed for people wishing to gain an insight into life at the theatre school, obtain further information from staff and students, and to work practically with the production team of this year’s graduation show.
Experience for yourself the excitement and enthusiasm shared by all as we celebrate The BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Course Graduation Show 2015. With a large ensemble company of actors, it’s an experience not to be missed.
Our Country’s Good
By Timberlake Wertenbaker
Directed by Chris Rozanski
This year’s Graduation show will be staged at the schools permanent home. The Old Fire Station 285-287 Moseley Rd Highgate. This facility houses both our rehearsal and performance venue and we are pleased to be staging our Graduation celebration within its studio theatre. This production will include a promenade and processional element capturing the story in a truly majestic interpretation. This performance promises to be a memorable experience. So why not join us for this unique day, participate in a practical workshop exploring both text and characterisation as well as meeting members of the company. We look forward to meeting you.
Wednesday 17th June 7.30pm
Thursday 18th June 7.30pm
Friday 19th June 2.00pm & 7.30pm (Workshop Day 10.45am)
Saturday 20th June 2.00pm & 7.30pm (Graduation Ceremony night)
Our Countries Good : Australia 1789. A young lieutenant is directing rehearsals of the first play ever to be staged in that country-with only two copies of the text, a cast of convicts and one leading lady who may be about to be hanged… Winner of the Laurence Olivier Play Award in 1988. Now a cornerstone of modern British classics and a must for every actor training in the theatre. This year’s Grad show follows a great tradition of retelling classic stories in promenade format. Relive the Journey from England to Australia and witness the brutality of life of a bygone age. A company of 40 actors and a tale of woe and strive.
